Responsibilities

  • Lead by example and support the management team during shifts
  • Mentor and support new staff members
  • Encourage young people to participate in activities and take responsibility for their lives, depending on their age
  • Maintain a homely, friendly environment within the homes
  • Deal with challenging behaviours safely and sympathetically
  • Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare
  • Support young people in developing independence and well-being
  • Ensure a safe environment and keep up-to-date with individual care plans and guidelines
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with staff, parents, social workers, and other professionals such as psychologists

Requirements

  • Experience as a Children’s Support Worker or with young people is essential
  • Experience within healthcare or social care settings is essential
  • Level 3 NVQ in Children & Young People is essential
  • Full UK driver’s licence is mandatory due to job requirements
  • Resilience, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for supporting young people
