We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant in Wirral for a reputable independent school that specialises in supporting boys and girls aged between 4 and 11 with social, emotional, and mental health needs. This exciting opportunity offers a 12-week temporary placement with the potential to secure a permanent role thereafter.
About the Role
As a SEN Teaching Assistant in the Wirral, you will provide crucial emotional and practical support to young people.
Your role will involve motivating and empowering students to develop independence, implementing support plans, and working collaboratively as part of a dedicated team. You will foster strong relationships, understand trauma impacts, and respond effectively to challenging situations.
Key Duties
- Offer day-to-day emotional and practical support tailored to individual needs
- Motivate young people to build resilience and independence
- Provide guidance and advice in accordance with support plans and keyworker requests
- Maintain a safe environment by responding to crises with a forward-thinking and calm approach
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure holistic support for students
What You Need to Be Considered
- Proven experience (minimum of six months) working with children or within social care environments
- Strong relationship-building skills with an empathetic and caring nature
- Knowledge of trauma and its effects, including homelessness and domestic abuse
- Ability to remain calm and resilient in challenging situations
- Current Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
- Right to work in the UK
