Our client, a leading specialist provider, is seeking a dedicated Domestic Abuse Support Worker to join their team in Monmouthshire. The Domestic Abuse Support Worker will play a vital role in supporting individuals and families affected by domestic abuse, helping them maintain their tenancies and access the necessary support services. The Domestic Abuse Support Worker in Monmouthshire will work closely with multi‑agency partners to deliver tailored support and safety planning, ensuring families can live safely and independently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support families across Monmouthshire affected by domestic abuse, assisting with tenancy maintenance and safety.
  • Conduct needs assessments and develop personalised support plans in line with organisational policies.
  • Undertake risk assessments, including Safelives DASH, and implement safety planning measures.
  • Collaborate within a multi‑agency Hub in Monmouthshire, liaising with colleagues and external agencies.
  • Work within the Supporting People Gateway framework for case management and resource allocation.
  • Deliver support that aligns with the organisation’s ethos, values, and policies.
  • Take proactive steps to prevent tenancy breakdowns and support families in accessing alternative accommodation if needed.
  • Liaise with partners such as DWP, housing providers, courts, and social services to address related needs.
  • Complete all case notes and support documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Foster informal community support networks to promote long‑term independence.
  • Make appropriate referrals to statutory and voluntary agencies, including Social Services, Police, and IDVA.
  • Assess home security and liaise with Target Hardening Schemes and housing providers.
  • Support families in accessing additional support services and resources.
  • Maintain accurate monitoring and record‑keeping using electronic systems such as Pan Connect and Locata.
  • Participate in regular team meetings, supervision, and training to support personal and professional development.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment and uphold organisational standards.

Requirements

  • Proven experience working with individuals affected by domestic abuse.
  • Experience in safety and support planning, with a strong understanding of risk assessment.
  • Ability to build and sustain positive relationships with vulnerable individuals.
  • Experience working in partnership with statutory and voluntary agencies.
  • Knowledge of social legislation and welfare rights.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in using database systems, MS Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Desirable

  • IDVA qualification or recognised equivalent.
  • Experience working within a psychologically informed framework.
  • Welsh language skills.

This position is open to Women only under the Equality Act 2010 pursuant to Schedule 9, Part 1. It is also subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
