Vetro is urgently seeking compassionate, reliable, and adaptable Relief/Temporary Support Workers to join our team in the Aberdare Area. This role offers flexibility, variety, and competitive hourly pay of £14.24 (inclusive of holiday pay) with an immediate start, allowing you to work on your own terms.
Responsibilities
- Support children and young people in day‑to‑day activities and interests.
- Use restraint training to ensure safety or be willing to undergo training.
- Promote young people's independence and well‑being.
- Attend weekends away, holidays and trips with the children.
- Participate in weekend and evening activities such as climbing, baking cakes, or vacations at Butlins.
- Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare.
- Provide emotional and practical support to the young people within your home.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of care plans and guidelines to ensure safety.
- Support children in managing challenging behaviour and minimise incidents.
Qualifications
- Ability to engage and build strong relationships with young people.
- Understanding of trauma and its impact, including homelessness and domestic abuse.
- Forward‑thinking crisis response attitude.
- Emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
- Empathetic, caring, and resilient nature.
- At least 6 months of experience working with children or in a similar social care setting.
- TMVA – Restraint Training Certificate.
- Valid UK driving licence.
- Current Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
- Right to work in the UK.
