What you’ll be doing as a Children's Support Worker:
- Support the children and young people in all day‑to‑day activities and interests.
- Restraint trained, or be willing to undergo a training course.
- Promote the young person's independence and wellbeing.
- Attend weekends away, holidays and trips away with the children.
- Attend weekend and evening activities to support the children and young people in their interests. This can range from climbing and baking cakes to weekends away in Butlins.
- Protect the children and young people from any risks to their health and welfare.
- Provide emotional and practical support to the young people within your home.
- Ensure the safety of young people by maintaining an up‑to‑date knowledge of care plans and guidelines.
- Support, overcome and learn to minimise incidents when behaviour can be challenging.
What You Need to Be Considered:
- Relationship building: the ability to engage and build strong relationships with young people.
- Understanding trauma: the impacts of homelessness, domestic abuse, and trauma.
- Crisis response: a forward‑thinking attitude to crisis response.
- Emotional resilience: the ability to remain calm and collected in challenging and traumatic situations.
- Empathetic, caring and resilient nature.
- At least 6 months experience of working with children or within a similar social care setting.
- TMVA – Restraint training certificate.
- Valid UK driving licence.
- Hold a current enhanced DBS on the update service or are willing to obtain one.
- The right to work in the UK.
