A leading special educational needs school in Aberdare is seeking an experienced and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join its welcoming team for an ongoing role. The Teaching Assistant role in Aberdare offers an excellent opportunity to support learners with ASD, Global Delay Disorder, PDA, and challenging behaviour. This full-time position is ideal for individuals passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of children with additional needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting and supervising learners with ASD, PDA, Global Delay Disorder, or challenging behaviour
  • Assisting learners at the start and end of the school day
  • Helping staff prepare classrooms for lessons
  • Working with learners in small groups or on a 1:1 basis
  • Supporting the delivery of lessons alongside the class teacher
  • Assisting learners during break times and lunchtimes
  • Engaging learners in classroom and out-of-classroom activities
  • Following the school's behaviour management policies

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 months experience working with children in schools, nurseries, or childcare settings; SEN experience is beneficial
  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) (support available)
  • Current Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
  • References covering the last two years (no gaps)
  • Right to work in the UK
