  • We are looking for an experienced mixed vet to join our fun and friendly team at our

Duns branch from June this year . We get the best of both worlds being based in the beautiful rural Scottish Borders but within an hour’s drive of Edinburgh.

The position is a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave with the potential to become a permanent position . Our vet team benefits from a good balance of experience and youth.

We are lucky to be based in a great livestock farming area.

The majority of our farm work is with progressive, keen suckler beef and sheep farmers.

These range from large commercial herds and flocks to smaller pedigree farmers, and also a few large dairies.

We enjoy a range of farm work from routine work, health planning, fertility testing etc. to everyday clinical cases and emergencies.

Our small animal work includes surgery and consults with access to the modern diagnostic equipment including DR & dental x-ray and good quality ultrasound, with a recent move to new shiny premises to accommodate our growing caseload.

We aim to provide a great first opinion service with clinical freedom to follow cases up and have a brilliant team of small animal vets for support and case discussion.

Most of our vets work a 4.5 day week but there could be potential for flexibility with this and also with the species split preference of the individual.

A minimum of 2 years' experience of clinical farm work is required.

On call would involve an equal share of farm only on call, usually 1 in 7/8 but moving to 1 in 4 with 2 vets on call through the spring.

Time off in lieu is given for weekends on call.

Salary is dependent upon experience, but the total package would include a vehicle, a generous CPD allowance and other benefits listed below.

  • Colleague dogs welcome

  • 30 days holiday (pro rata).
  • Competitive colleague discount rates on products (cost price) and services (50%).
