Lynwood Vets is looking for a confident and caring Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join our fantastic team at our Purbeck branches. We are a friendly, forward-thinking, 5 branch, RCVS accredited practice based on the South Coast – perfect for easy access to lovely beaches and open countryside! All branches work closely together, with opportunities to get together both socially and professionally.
Our Purbeck branches Wareham and Swanage are home to a hard-working, fun and welcoming team of vets and nurses with interests in surgery, medicine, behaviour and exotics. We also work closely with local bird and hedgehog charities. Our Wareham branch has facilities for surgery, dentistry including x-rays, ultrasound and in-house blood machines. We see a wide range of cases which can be worked up in-house or supported by the Wimborne hospital with our two AVPs in medicine & a certificate holder in cardiology.
The Role:
- Fixed Term Contract (Maternity Cover) – April 2026 – Dec 2026
- Based primarily at our Swanage branch, with option of additional work at our Wareham branch
- Part-time – ideally 20-35hrs/week, including one full day on a Friday and other hours can be full or part days to suit, plus 1:4 Sat mornings
- Two days a week of sole charge consulting at our branch practice, supported by an RVN and a client care team member, with responsibility for triaging emergencies +/- carrying out minor procedures
- One day a week (ideally Friday) – working alongside another vet and larger nursing team with the potential for surgery and emergency work or consulting
- Possibility of permanent position
Salary – dependent on experience
The ideal candidate will be a confident, client-focused veterinary surgeon with strong sole charge experience, who thrives in this setting and enjoys building lasting relationships with pets and their owners in a close knit seaside community.
