Our Putney practice location has a true London ‘village’ atmosphere, just a short walk from the River Thames, Putney High Street, and Putney Station. The team consists of one senior vet, one associate vet, and a clinical support team dedicated to building strong bonds with an established client base. As Senior RVN you will work closely with the senior vet to maintain the high standard of daily practice operations, overseeing diary management, equipment maintenance, and team engagement. You will receive full support from a dedicated regional manager and benefit from out‑of‑hours care provided by Stone Lion 24‑hour hospital, located a 15–30‑minute drive away. There are no on‑call requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the nursing team, ensuring high quality and continually improving standards of nursing care.
  • Assist the veterinary surgeon in theatre and during consultations, as and when required.
  • Ensure the provision of high quality nursing care, comfort and welfare for all pets.
  • Utilise Schedule 3 skills, as directed.
  • Ensure all diagnostic, surgical and medical equipment and instruments are serviced, maintained well and fully operational.
  • Conduct a weekly audit of Controlled Drugs in accordance with the prescribed protocol.
  • Manage receptionist staffing, ensuring high standards of client care through excellent communication.
  • Oversee daily reception operations, handling clients and pets in person, by email and telephone.
  • Provide clinical supervision for student nurses.

  • The salary band for this full‑time 40‑hour week role is £35,000 to £39,000, depending on experience, with room for growth.

More About the Role

The 40‑hour week can be spread across four days and includes a 1:4 branch Saturday and 1:10 Sunday rotation at Stone Lion Hospital, plus one bank holiday per year at Stone Lion. Leadership training is provided to support the transition into a senior position.
