Regional EHS Advisor - North East of England (primarily field-based) VetPartners Limited, Remote

Salary £35,000 - £40,000 per annum (depending on experience)

The Role

The Regional Environment Health & Safety (EHS) Advisor plays a vital role in supporting the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of VetPartners’ Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) strategy. You will work closely with clinical and non‑clinical teams across your region to promote a positive safety culture, provide expert advice, and ensure compliance with legal and organisational standards. This is a full‑time, permanent remote role based in the broader North East of England. It requires regular, expensed travel within your allocated region, including overnight stays, to meet the needs of the role, and to attend team meetings and training, likely at our York Office, and provide support in other regions when necessary. Office space is available in York.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead regional audit programmes – Plan and execute site audits, producing reports with clear corrective actions and tracking progress to closure.
  • Analyse & report on compliance data – Turn audit findings and incident trends into monthly reports for senior leaders, highlighting key risks.
  • Act as primary EH&S advisor – Provide practical, legally compliant guidance to practices, managing the central EH&S inbox.
  • Drive technical projects – Develop policies, risk assessments, and Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) for high‑risk tasks.
  • Conduct incident investigations – Lead root cause analysis and produce formal reports to prevent recurrence.
  • Deliver & design training – Create engaging EH&S content for online and in‑person delivery across the business.
  • Support fire safety compliance – Review Fire Risk Assessments and assess general fire safety provisions during site visits, flagging issues to the Senior Fire Safety Advisor.
  • Mentor & quality assure – Guide junior team members, peer‑review audit reports, and support new practice onboarding.

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to present complex data clearly to senior leaders and engage constructively with practice teams.
  • Highly organised and data‑literate, with the ability to maintain accurate records and translate raw data into meaningful reports.
  • Proactive, with the ability to manage a varied workload effectively.
  • A team player who recognises how their work contributes to the overall success of the business.

Other Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle with business insurance.
  • Willingness to travel regularly, including overnight stays as required to meet business needs.

Qualifications & Experience

  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
  • Proven, hands‑on experience in a health and safety advisory or auditing role.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK H&S legislation and its practical application.
  • Experience within healthcare, veterinary, or a multi‑site organisation.
  • Experience in policy writing and developing risk assessment frameworks.
  • Experience with data analysis or business intelligence tools (e.g., Excel, PowerBI).
