Clifton Lodge Veterinary Group is a friendly, forward-thinking small animal practice located in Hartlepool, Billingham and Horden. We’re looking for a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to become part of our supportive and progressive team in the North East of England. Whether you’re an experienced vet or looking to step into a more senior role, this is an exciting opportunity to develop your career in a welcoming environment.
About the Practice: We are a well-established, RCVS accredited, small animal practice with four sites across Hartlepool, Horden, Billingham and Sedgefield. Our brand-new Hartlepool premises (opened 2026) offers exceptional surgical, diagnostic and inpatient facilities, including CT, alongside excellent equipment across all sites such as ultrasound, digital and dental x-ray, plus endoscopy and laparoscopy. Location-wise, we’re perfectly placed — with beautiful beaches, countryside, and the historic cities of Durham and York all within easy reach, offering a fantastic work-life balance.
Our Team: We are a welcoming team, led by our Clinical Directors Zoe and Christo and practice manager Donna. Our veterinary team includes certificate holders in surgery, dentistry, imaging, cardiology and minimally invasive surgery. We have a dedicated team of RVNs, VCAs and ANAs which also includes certificate holders in feline medicine and another that has completed a medicine certificate. We actively encourage professional development and support individual interests across the team.
The Role: Full-time: 40 hours per week, 1 in 4 Saturdays, no out-of-hours! Part-time options considered for those looking for a more flexible work/life balance. Competitive salary dependent on experience and responsibilities.
How we support your day:
- 20-minute consultations for thorough case workups
- Dedicated time for admin and client communication
- Well-managed diary with on-the-day emergency slots
Who We’re Looking For:
- Confident with routine consults and surgery
- Comfortable with occasional sole charge
- A team player with strong communication skills that is comfortable navigating more challenging/difficult conversations and situations when required
Senior opportunity available: Ideal for a vet interested in mentoring colleagues or taking on a GDP advisory role.
