Welcome to Harrow! Our fabulous vet is currently on their parenting adventure, and we are looking for a competent sole charge GP vet to step into their shoes and keep our popular Harrow practice running while they are away until the end of summer.

About your new role!

Harrow is your perfect well-managed urban practice, situated on a bustling high-street in northwest London. Harrow is small but perfectly formed allowing the team to crack on with day-to-day consults and routine surgeries. It is fully equipped with everything you would need for a first opinion practice, including dental x-ray and multi-parameter.

This is a full-time 4-day week role, and your 40 hours are inclusive of a 1:3 branch Saturday and 1:8 hospital Sunday rotation. You will be fully supported by an incredible nursing team, dedicated regional manager, and regional head vet to help you with any areas of clinical support you may need.

As a sole charge branch vet some of your duties will include:

  • Carry out consultations, thoroughly examining all pets presented and making management and treatment recommendations which are based on best practice and are evidence-based and in accordance with GVG protocols.
  • Perform surgery on cases as appropriate and within boundaries of personal competence and limitation of overnight care.
  • Maintain, prescribe and dispense all medications in accordance with appropriate current medicines legislation and RCVS guidance.
  • Record accurate and thorough clinical notes and ensure that pets’ histories are accurate, comprehensive and useful to colleagues.
  • Be prepared to refer cases in a timely manner, in the first instance to a GVG Hospital, when there is an inability to undertake a case for whatever reason.
  • Help to maintain a respectful and collaborative team environment.
  • Work alongside your RVN to ensure branch meetings are scheduled and the clinics SOP’s are being actioned.
  • Oversee the consulting and surgical/diagnostic diary in compliance with company policies.

There are no on-call requirements for this role. Goddard Mandeville Veterinary Hospital in Northolt provides Harrow with its OOH care and support with any complex cases you may need to refer. There is state of the art diagnostic support at the hospital with a new CT scanner, a diploma holder in imaging providing our CT and ultrasound service, a strong medical team, and experienced surgeons routinely conducting advanced orthopaedic, soft tissue, and minimally invasive surgery all available on site.

In terms of location, Harrow is on a busy high-street with plenty of eateries to choose from, and local train stations are a 20-minute walk away such as Harrow & Wealdstone on the Bakerloo line. If driving, there is plenty of free off parking on the side street next to the practice.

Now let’s get to the nitty gritty, here is what we offer you:

The salary band for this fixed term 8-month position dependent on start date is £60,000 to £90,000 FTE dependent on prior experience and allowing room for further growth and personal progression within the role.
