We have a fantastic opportunity for a Health and Safety Auditor to join our team.

Founded by vets for vets in 2015, VetPartners has numerous veterinary practices; Small Animal, Farm, and Equine – in the UK we’ve 8,000 colleagues working in around 550 sites and from our Central Support Office in York. The group also has practices in France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Portugal and Spain, Switzerland and The Netherlands, and is anticipating further growth in 2025 and beyond.

About the role:

You will pro-actively deliver VetPartners’ internal health and safety (H&S) audit programme across the Midlands, to be mainly based around the Nottingham / Leicester area. Completing site visits and reviewing levels of compliance with H&S; you will provide advice and support. Working in all fields within the veterinary sector, you will support small animal, equine and farming veterinary practices.

Keeping in regular contact with practices in your area, and acting as the first point of contact for H&S queries, you will ensure practice teams are fully supported and guided on achieving H&S compliance.

Part of a wider team of auditors based around the UK, you will help to create supporting guidance to ensure that H&S legislation is understandable and achievable for practice teams.

This is a part-time role, to work 22.5 hours a week across 3 days.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently monitor and deliver the internal VetPartners audit programme within regional area
  • Engage with practices to review audit findings and provide advice face-to-face and via video or telephone calls, with a flexible approach
  • Develop positive relationships with practices to promote a proactive ‘practice-led’ approach to H&S
  • Provide tailored support to help practices where they need it the most, including risk assessments, COSHH, fire safety etc.
  • Work with the wider H&S team to identify trends, challenges, and areas for improvement of our health and safety management system
  • Attend and participate in team meetings, sharing knowledge and experiences
  • Work with the H&S team developing our policies, guidance and template documents
  • Monitor the H&S inbox and provide day-to-day support with H&S queries
  • Complete fire risk assessments for lower risk premises

About you:

This role would suit either an experienced H&S practitioner, or someone with veterinary experience, who’s ready to move into a new role. Whilst an understanding of the veterinary industry would be an advantage, it’s not essential. Formal qualifications in H&S are also not essential, and we’d be pleased to consider applications from career-changers and people with non-traditional career paths. Training and support will be provided for the right candidate.

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and IT skills, and a pragmatic approach to safety.

This is a homeworking role, with one day a week on average visiting practices. Some overnight stays may be required to support practices in other regions on occasion.
