Vet bills are rising and customers aren’t happy. Targets are focused on maximising profits? With staff shortages, you are working longer hours with less breaks, sound familiar? You didn’t become a vet to spend less time with clients and patients, did you? Whether you’re treating a beloved family pet in the consulting room or examining cattle in the field, you’re a vet who cares, wants to be the best they can be, and give back to the industry you love.
Choosing a new practice is a big decision, you don’t want more of the same, you want to get to know your patients, spend time with them, without being micromanaged and see cases through, a place that gives value and a place where you can feel appreciated. Luckily there are still places like this and this one is hiring. This modern independent 4 branch setup is hiring for growth. They are looking for a mixed vet ideally with 2 years’ experience to join an experienced team of vets and nurses at their brand-new, purpose-built practice in Knighton.
Serving their community for over 140 years you will be providing high quality care to a wide range of animals from smallies, horses to cattle and sheep. You will be diagnosing, treating and performing surgery as well as preventative health and emergency care to their farm patients. The beauty of an independent practice is you aren’t micro-managed, there are no silly targets for vets, and no one telling you what to do from afar; the job is tough enough without adding additional stress!
They’re interested in improving all their team and investing in them because it’s mutually beneficial. With plenty of experience in house and from visiting vets, this is a great place to learn and advance. If you want to diversify your knowledge, they have strong links with the local University and are one of the largest poultry vets in the UK.
It’s a 5-day week here, 8:30am to 5pm, with 1:5 Saturday mornings and a 1:5 Out of Hours Rota. Vets get Monday afternoon off to recover after a weekend on call. They are a very sociable team, they fire up the Barbeque in the summer and have regular team nights out throughout the year.
The location is based in Knighton where the rolling Shropshire Hills meet the rugged beauty of Mid Wales. This community offers the perfect escape from the urban rush, combining breathtaking scenery and world-class hiking on your doorstep. If you’re looking for a professional move that offers a genuine sense of belonging and an outdoor lifestyle, you’ll find it here in the heart of the Teme Valley.
So, what’s in it for you? A salary from £35k to £55k DOE, 31 days holiday plus Bank Holidays, a relocation package if required, CPD allowance, plus car and phone provided for work. If you want challenging medicine, supportive colleagues, real balance, and a lifestyle that delivers, this could be your next long-term home. Don’t stress about having the perfect CV.
