If you’re tired of the corporate treadmill and the 10-minute "conveyor belt" consultations, it’s time to reclaim your clinical passion. At Western Avenue Veterinary Centre in Chester, they’ve traded high-pressure quotas for a culture of clinical excellence and genuine human connection. They are an entirely independent practice where "good medicine" isn’t just a buzzword; it’s the foundation of everything they do.

They believe that exceptional care requires time. That’s why they provide 30-minute consultation slots as standard. This allows you to build real bonds with loyal clients and see your cases through from the first examination to the final follow-up. Here, you aren’t just a staff member; you are a cornerstone of a community-focused team.

They are looking for an SA Vet who is passionate about welfare and eager to exercise true clinical freedom. You’ll handle routine consultations, soft tissue surgery, GI cases, medical workups, and more, with full access to ultrasonography and radiography. At least one year of experience is preferred. You should be proficient in routine first-opinion surgeries; however, if you aren't yet confident in complex procedures, these will be undertaken supervised.

For those with an eye on the future, they offer more than just a job. This role includes a unique pathway to partnership for those interested in the business side of veterinary medicine, from marketing and new business development to facility expansion.

What’s in it for you:

  • Salary: £40k - £60k (dependent on experience).
  • Support: Paid RCVS and VDS cover, plus a generous CPD allowance.
  • Balance: Additional paid leave and an employee mentorship program.
  • Hours: 9am - 6pm, Monday to Friday. Part-time or full-time hours, you choose.
  • No Weekends: There are no weekend duties or OOH requirements.
  • Post-grad qualifications actively encouraged and financed.
  • Perks: Paid RCVS/VDS, CPD allowance, employee mentorship, staff discounts, and free parking.

Located on the doorstep of historic Chester, Blacon blends community warmth with urban convenience. So, what’s next? You didn’t become a vet to survive your shifts; you did it to change lives. Stop settling for a "manageable" workload and start thriving in a practice that finally matches your standards. If you’re ready for a sustainable career in a place where you’re not just an employee, but a valued partner in care, this is the move that changes everything.

Send your CV, don’t worry if it’s not up to date. We can’t get the whole story in a job ad, so ask any questions. I’ll answer honestly, no hard sell.
