The Vet Office is recruiting an enthusiastic, passionate and dedicated Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-established friendly small animal practice in Bedfordshire. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a supportive, experienced and close-knit team that genuinely values collaboration, professional development and high clinical standards all within a modern and well-equipped working environment.

The Practice

The successful candidate will join a purpose-built air-conditioned practice with state-of-the-art facilities including ultrasound, digital x-ray, tonometry, K-laser and support for alternative therapies such as acupuncture. The practice is ideally located just off a major motorway around 40 minutes from Cambridge, with easy access to Luton Airport and direct train links into central London, offering both convenience and an excellent quality of life.

The Team

Experienced team of 4 Veterinary Surgeons supported by RVNs, SVNs, receptionists and a Veterinary Care Assistant. One vet holds a certificate in ophthalmology. Strong team ethos with shared case discussion and clinical support. Balanced caseload with approximately 50% surgical and 50% medical work, including occasional orthopaedic cases.

The Role

Full-time position (37 hours per week), 1 in 4 weekend rota. Saturday: 8:30am - 6:00pm, Sunday: 10:00am - 4:00pm. No out-of-hours. Some sole charge responsibility required.

About You

Qualified Veterinary Surgeon (MRCVS) with strong all-round GP skills in both medicine and surgery. Confident communicator who enjoys building relationships with clients and colleagues. Comfortable with sole charge and varied caseloads. Keen to develop clinically with CPD and certificates encouraged and supported.

Salary & Benefits

Salary up to £70,000 (DOE / FTE). Generous CPD allowance plus certificate funding. 5.6 weeks annual leave rising to 6.6 weeks after 2 years. Contributory pension scheme.
