The Vet Office is proud to be supporting a busy and progressive 24-hour veterinary hospital in Basildon, Essex, in the search for a Registered Veterinary Nurse with an interest in surgical and theatre work.

This role offers the opportunity to work in a true hospital environment, providing round-the-clock care to a diverse caseload, including ECC, inpatient care, and advanced surgical support, all within a collaborative and well-supported team.

This well-established 24-hour hospital serves both its local community and a growing referral caseload across South Essex. The team prides itself on a supportive, inclusive culture where nurses are genuinely valued for their clinical skills and contribution to patient care. The hospital continues to expand its nurse-led services and clinical offering, including inpatient care, ECC exposure, advanced imaging, and surgical support under one roof.

The Role

The successful candidate will be an all-round RVN who enjoys variety and thrives in a hospital setting where no two days are the same. The role includes a varied rota with strong clinical backup and exposure across multiple areas of nursing, making it ideal for nurses looking to develop their skills in a supportive 24/7 environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Nurse consults including booster vaccinations, weight clinics, post-operative checks, and client education
  • Inpatient and ward nursing with hands-on patient monitoring and care
  • Theatre support for routine and more advanced surgical procedures
  • Supporting Emergency & Critical Care cases alongside experienced clinicians
  • Contributing to the development of nurse-led clinics and services
  • Supporting student and newly qualified nurses where appropriate

  • RCVS-registered Veterinary Nurse
  • Compassionate, reliable, and patient-focused
  • Comfortable working across consults, theatre, wards, and ECC
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills

  • Newly qualified nurses are welcome (structured support provided)
