Veterinary Surgeon – 24/7 Small Animal Hospital

The Vet Office is working with a well-established 24/7 Small Animal Hospital and Emergency Services Clinic in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, to recruit a Veterinary Surgeon to join their experienced and highly skilled clinical team. This RCVS-recognised hospital has been established since 2002 and has developed into a centre of excellence, offering both first-opinion and advanced referral-level care within the same facility.
The hospital is fully equipped with market-leading diagnostic and surgical technology, including:
- CT scanner
- Rigid and flexible endoscopy
- Advanced ultrasound equipment
The clinical caseload includes a wide range of services such as neurosurgery, orthopaedics, minimally invasive procedures, stem cell therapy, chemotherapy, emergency and critical care, alongside routine small animal work. The team consists of an experienced and collaborative multidisciplinary group, including veterinary surgeons, registered veterinary nurses, student nurses, animal care assistants and dedicated non-clinical support staff. Both daytime and out-of-hours services are managed on site, ensuring continuity of care for patients.

All veterinary surgeons are expected to participate in the weekend rota. This may be on a 1 in 2 basis for full-time roles or a 1 in 4 basis for part-time positions. Weekend-only roles are also available for those seeking additional clinical exposure.
