Location: This role will be contractually based at the VMD, Woodham Lane, New Haw, Addlestone, Surrey KT15 3LS. You will be expected to be in the office or working away from home for at least 60% of your time. To meet the necessary security requirements for the VMD location, you must have been a resident in the UK for the past three years.
About the VMD: The Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) is the regulatory and policy lead responsible for issues concerning the authorisation, use, and manufacture of veterinary medicines in the UK. Our aim is to protect public health, animal health, and the environment, and promote animal welfare by assuring the safety, quality and effectiveness of veterinary medicines.
About the Job: The Accounts Payable Manager plays a key role within the VMD finance team. Main responsibilities include:
- Ensuring the accurate and timely processing of purchase invoices & employee expenses.
- Managing the end-to-end purchase order process.
- Completing month-end processes.
- Providing support during interim and final audit of VMD Annual Report and Accounts.
- Overseeing the processing of purchase invoices & staff expenses.
- Processing weekly payment runs, including payments.
- Reconciling daily bank statements.
- Maintaining supplier and staff details in Sage X3.
- Other adhoc tasks including month end and audit support.
- Complying with ISO 9001 (quality management) and ISO 27001 (information security) standards, and GDPR and Information Management requirements.
- Acting corporately – meeting, role-modelling, embedding, and championing the corporate objectives set by the VMD.
Person Specification: We’re looking for you to have experience:
- Of leading or working in an Accounts Payable.
- Of Microsoft packages – Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams.
- Of accounting software, (preferably Sage X3) although training will be provided.
We’re looking for someone that has:
- An understanding of purchase ledger processes and procedures.
- The ability to prioritise tasks and deliver work to tight deadlines.
- The ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders, offering advice and resolving queries.
