Are you passionate about surgical care and looking to work in a collaborative, modern veterinary practice? Abingdon Square Veterinary Clinic is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Licensed Veterinary Technician or Experienced Veterinary Technician Assistant to join our surgical team. This position is heavily focused on assisting with surgical procedures and anesthesia monitoring. Candidates must be proficient in both in order to be considered.

Surgical LVT Responsibilities

  • Triage patients and perform lab work/diagnostic imaging
  • Assist veterinarians in delivering top-quality patient care
  • Provide nursing care for medical and hospitalized patients
  • Prepare and maintain surgical suites, instruments, and equipment
  • Support anesthesia set-up, monitoring, and patient prep
  • Ensure sterilization protocols are followed before, during, and after surgery
  • Monitor patients through recovery and ensure comfort/safety
  • Communicate post-op care and medication instructions to clients
  • Manage surgical inventory, supplies, and records

What We're Looking For

  • LVT: Licensed Veterinary Technician in New York, or an experienced veterinary technician on track to obtain licensure within 6 months
  • Technician Assistant: Minimum 2 years of experience as a veterinary surgical assistant, including anesthesia monitoring
  • In-depth knowledge of surgical preparation, anesthesia protocols, and drug administration
  • Meticulous attention to detail with a commitment to following strict safety and sterilization standards
  • Compassionate, collaborative, and confident handling animals of all sizes
  • Excellent communication skills with both clients and team members
