Your professional home awaits.

This practice isn’t about buzzwords or box-ticking. It’s a family-run practice built on trust, loyalty, and good medicine. The kind of place where people stay, clients come back year after year, and vets are given real autonomy. A place where clients know your name, and you’re trusted to do your job well.

This independent practice has been part of the North Manchester community for 45 years. It’s run by a husband and wife team, one handling the business, the other a 15-year-qualified head vet, and it’s built on long-term relationships, not quick wins. There are no plans to sell, no out-of-hours, and no pressure to upsell anything that doesn’t feel right.

They’re now looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon (5+ years qualified), a good, all-round GP with a surgical bias, who’s ready to settle somewhere long term and become part of the family.

What the week looks like:

  • Salary: £75,000 (pro-rated) All fees paid for with an excellent CPD allowance.
  • Hours: 8:00am–6:30pm, with a genuine aim to be out the door on time.
  • Clinical mix: Surgery from the morning through to mid-afternoon, then consults from 4:00pm–6:15pm.
  • Weekends: One in three Saturday mornings (8:30am–1:00pm).
  • OOH: None. Ever.
  • Holiday: 20 days plus bank holidays.
  • Start date: Beginning of April.

You’ll be working alongside two other experienced vets, with modern kit on site (X-ray, ultrasound, in-house lab) and visiting specialists when needed. Most importantly, you’ll be given the time and space to practise good medicine.

Why People Stay:

The team here has been together for years, and that’s not by accident. The culture is close-knit, supportive, and refreshingly drama-free. There are no targets to hit, no pressure selling, and no hierarchy nonsense. People care about each other, and it shows.

This place has a real ‘family feel’ about it, where everyone pulls together when there’s work, and relaxes when it’s time. Without the shackles of a large vet group, decisions can be made quickly, and ideas are encouraged.

The Location:

Based close to Manchester city centre, the practice has a tram stop just down the road, making commuting effortless. With gyms, cafés, restaurants, and a supermarket all within two minutes, plus Heaton Park and other green spaces nearby, it’s an easy place to settle, unwind, and enjoy life outside work.

So, what’s next?

If you’re ready for a role where you can develop, feel valued, and enjoy the journey as much as the work, please get in touch. Send your CV, don’t worry if it’s not up to date. We can’t get the whole story in a job ad, so ask any questions. I’ll answer honestly, no hard sell.

Work with purpose, live with balance, and join a team that supports you every step of the way.
