Overview

We’re delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a well-respected, independent mixed practice providing small animal, equine and farm services across the local community.

This is a traditional, values-led ambulatory practice combining decades of experience with modern equipment, clinical enthusiasm, and genuine care for clients and their animals.

You’ll be joining a friendly and supportive team, made up of two experienced partners and two assistants — a great blend of fresh knowledge and established expertise.

The Role

We’re looking for a motivated assistant veterinary surgeon to become the fifth member of this close-knit team.

While experience is preferred, all applications will be considered, and you’ll receive strong mentorship and support while being encouraged to manage your own cases to their natural conclusion.

You’ll work primarily with equine clients (pleasure, competition, and stud horses) and a small number of farm clients (dairy, beef, sheep, and smallholders) in a 80% equine / 20% farm role.

Don’t worry — there’s no TB testing involved!

Clinical Facilities

With the support of an experienced Equine Technician, the practice is fully equipped for:

• Gastroscopy
• Digital X-ray
• Ultrasonography
• Endoscopy
• Laser therapy
• Nerve blocks
• Artificial insemination
• More complex cases (e.g. surgical colic or unresolved lameness) are referred to specialist centres.

Requirements

• MRCVS registered (or eligible)
• Right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available)
• Confident communicator with a genuine interest in serving the local countryside community
