Our Client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Manufacturing Engineer to join their team. This role mainly focuses on identifying inefficiencies, implementing improvements, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The engineer will ensure the smooth operation and upkeep of our facilities, equipment, and systems, perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime and optimize performance. The candidate will aid the business as it begins the journey of robotic automation and must have a strong technical/mechanical background, exceptional problem‑solving skills, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Responsibilities
- Continuous Improvement: Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and other improvement methodologies to enhance processes, reduce costs, and improve quality. Continuously seek opportunities to reduce downtime, increase equipment reliability, and optimize resource utilization.
- Preventative Maintenance: Develop and execute comprehensive preventative maintenance schedules for all equipment and machinery to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Troubleshooting: Quickly diagnose mechanical, electrical, and technical issues to identify root causes and implement timely solutions to minimize disruptions.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including repairs, replacements, inspections, and upgrades. Keep track of equipment history and maintenance logs. Develop and maintain standard work instructions, process documentation, routings, bills of materials (BOMs), and manufacturing specifications for fabricated components.
- Equipment Upgrades: Identify opportunities for upgrades, modifications, or enhancements to improve efficiency, safety, and reliability.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly and effectively to emergency maintenance requests to minimize downtime and ensure the safety of personnel and assets.
- New Product Introduction Support: Collaborate with design/engineering teams on Design for Manufacturability (DFM), process development, tooling/fixture design, CNC programming, prototype builds, process validation, and production ramp‑up.
- Training: Provide training and guidance to operators on equipment operation, maintenance procedures, and safety protocols.
- Inventory Management: Maintain an organized inventory of spare parts, tools, and supplies necessary for maintenance tasks.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols, promote a culture of safety, and consistently identify and mitigate potential hazards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or related field) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven experience in process improvement, manufacturing, or operations.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, machinery, and equipment.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and problem‑solving techniques.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
