The HSE department is focused on supporting and empowering Vestas to build HSE capacity at every level of the organization. We aim to ensure that every leader and employee has access to the necessary tools, systems and processes to ensure everyone goes home safely every day.
Responsibilities
- Aligned with the Regional Blueprint, the Sub-Regional HSE Manager operates primarily at the 3-6-month, process-driven horizon.
- The role converts the Regional annual Capacity Plan into a prioritized sub-regional delivery plan, coordinates execution through standardized processes and routines, and maintains control of high risks through verification, follow-up and escalation.
- Accountable for deployment of Global and Regional HSE standards, critical controls and management system requirements across the sub-region (Sales, CPX projects, Service sites/centres, warehouses and offices within the defined geographical boundary), and for providing timely assurance inputs and escalations to the Regional Head of HSE.
- As the senior HSE Manager within the sub-region, this role is accountable not only for operational delivery but for helping shape the safety culture - modelling the behaviours of curious inquiry, systemic thinking and learning over blame that define the Vestas HSE evolution and ensuring these are visible and consistently reinforced in sub-regional operational leadership forums.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Engineering, or a related discipline. Equivalent technical qualifications combined with significant HSE experience may also be considered.
- 7+ years of progressive HSE experience within wind energy, offshore operations, construction, manufacturing, utilities, logistics, service operations, or other high-risk industries.
- Demonstrated experience working as a senior HSE advisor, specialist, business partner supporting multi-site, multi-project, or geographically dispersed operations.
- Professional HSE certification such as NEBOSH Certificate/Diploma or equivalent occupational safety qualification.
- Solid working knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems, including implementation, compliance monitoring, and continuous improvement activities.
- Experience supporting HSE governance, operational assurance, risk management, incident investigation, and corrective action follow-up across complex operational environments.
- Experience working across multiple countries, business units, or operational functions, with the ability to build effective relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to communicate effectively with frontline teams, operational leaders, and senior management.
- Strong safety leadership with the ability to encourage safe practices and build a proactive safety culture.
- Ability to conduct risk assessments and support incident investigations, including root cause analysis.
- Experience performing HSE audits, inspections and compliance monitoring activities.
- Effective stakeholder management and communication abilities, with experience engaging employees, supervisors, contractors, and business leaders.
- Ability to deliver HSE training, coaching and awareness initiatives across operational teams.
- Solid risk management, problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset.
- Team-oriented and encouraging approach with effective coaching and mentoring experience.
