The Service department is responsible for service and maintenance of the wind farms within the UK and Ireland. The department fosters an open and informal culture, emphasizing teamwork and good communication. This role offers the opportunity to work in an exciting industry alongside highly motivated employees. You will need to develop detailed knowledge of our wind turbines to perform daily maintenance, repairs, and other field service tasks. Working safely and environmentally responsibly, you will be part of a team of service technicians across the region. Apprentices will collaborate with various teams, gaining valuable industry experience and learning from seasoned colleagues. We seek apprentices eager to learn on the job, develop practical skills, and build professional relationships.
Responsibilities- Ensure compliance with Vestas' Health & Safety, Quality, and Operational procedures.
- Complete a 2-year HND electrical engineering course at college.
- Work at various Vestas windfarm locations with service teams.
- Complete a Vestas qualification & authorization workbook.
- Maintain and service electrical and mechanical systems.
- Collaborate with support functions and colleagues.
- Perform periodic service inspections and component replacements as per Vestas specifications.
- Higher qualifications in a related subject, preferably Math, Physics, or Engineering Science.
- National 5 qualifications in core subjects, grades 5-9.
- Scottish National qualifications (funding eligibility).
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Driving license category B.
- Ability to work at heights of up to 100 meters and in adverse weather conditions.
- Interest in how things work, especially electrical/mechanical principles, and a desire to gain experience.
- Good time management skills.
- Safety-conscious, accountable, organized, and proactive.
- Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
- Ability to simplify tasks and ensure timely delivery.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
- A proactive problem solver willing to seek support when necessary.
