The Service department is responsible for the service and maintenance of wind farms within the UK and Ireland. The department has an open and informal culture, where teamwork and good communication are key to our growth. You will have the opportunity to work in an exciting industry and in a team of highly motivated employees.
You will be required to develop detailed knowledge of our wind turbines to perform daily maintenance, repairs, and other field service-related tasks. Working to the highest safety and environmental standards, while ensuring service targets are met, you will be part of a team of service technicians working throughout the region. Apprentices will collaborate with teams across different parts of the business, gaining meaningful industry experience and learning from colleagues who have already completed apprenticeships in the same discipline. We are looking for apprentices eager to learn on the job, develop practical skills, personal competencies, and build relationships across our business.
Responsibilities
- Compliance with Vestas\’ Health & safety, Quality, Operational procedures
- Complete a 2-year HND electrical engineering course at college
- Work at various Vestas wind farm locations with our service teams
- Complete a Vestas qualification & authorization workbook
- Maintain and service electrical and mechanical systems
- Collaborate with support functions and colleagues
- Carry out periodic service inspections per Vestas specifications, including component replacement (electrical and mechanical)
Qualifications
- Higher qualifications in a related subject, preferably Math, Physics, or Engineering Science
- National 5 qualifications in core subjects with grades 5-9
- Scottish National (to be eligible for funding)
- Good knowledge of MS Office
- Driving license category B
- Ability to work at heights of up to 100 meters and in adverse weather conditions

Additional information
This role is regional-based, and travel throughout the region is expected. You should reside in the Muirkirk area.
The training spans 4 years, working towards NC, HNC, & potentially HND qualifications via placement at Ayrshire College (Ayr Campus). The first year is full-time at college; subsequent years involve day/block release and on-site training.
