Position Overview
The Interprovincial Delivery Driver is responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently between Prince Edward Island and neighbouring provinces. This role ensures on‑time deliveries, exceptional customer service, compliance with transportation regulations, and proper care of company vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate vehicles safely across provincial borders following Canadian transportation laws.
- Deliver goods to commercial, industrial, and distribution locations across Atlantic Canada.
- Verify load documentation, secure freight, and ensure shipment accuracy.
- Plan efficient interprovincial routes to meet delivery times.
- Adapt to varying road, weather, and scheduling conditions.
- Maintain professionalism during customer interactions.
- Provide updates regarding delays, issues, or delivery confirmations.
- Complete logs, manifests, inspection reports, and border paperwork.
- Follow Hours of Service regulations.
- Conduct pre‑trip and post‑trip vehicle inspections.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and report maintenance needs.
Qualifications & Requirements
Essential:
- Valid Class 3 Driver’s License. Training is available through the employer.
- Knowledge of Canadian highway and transport regulations.
- Strong communication and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently, on-demand hours for day trips. Training available to meet licensing requirements.
Preferred:
- Long‑haul or interprovincial delivery experience.
- Familiarity with Atlantic Canadian geography.
- Experience with GPS and handheld logistics devices.
Working Conditions
- Long‑distance driving across PEI, NB, NS, and occasionally other provinces.
- Exposure to weather and road variations.
- Travel is frequent during April until the end of June. 3‑4 days per week.
- Combination of driving, loading/unloading, and customer service.
- Extended periods of sitting while driving.
