Our client, a thriving consultancy based in Derby, are looking for a Health and Safety Consultant to join our team, supporting SME clients, predominantly within the construction industry. Construction and CDM knowledge / experience highly desirable. Starting salary £45,000 - £50,000 depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete construction site inspections and audits.
- Ensure practical compliance with CDM 2015.
- Review H&S documentation, including Construction Phase Plans (CPPs) and RAMS.
- Help clients understand and meet their duties as Client / Principal Contractor / Contractor.
- Provide practical advice on controlling common construction risks to include working at height, lifting, excavations / temporary works, plant / traffic management, COSHH, electrical safety and public interface.
- Conduct incident / near-miss investigations, corrective actions, learning, and RIDDOR guidance.
- Produce concise, high-quality H&S documentation.
Ideal Candidate
- Full UK driving licence.
- Experience in construction environment with knowledge of CDM regulations (desirable).
- Strong IT skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Good problem solver.
- Ability to manage own diary and work using own initiative.
- Good attention to detail.
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) is essential.
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) desirable.
- NEBOSH Construction desirable.
- CSCS card desirable.
Benefits
- Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 depending on experience.

- Working pattern: Office, client and site based (typically 2–3 days per week on client sites, with the remainder office based; travel required and flexible working where practical).
- Location: Most clients are in the Midlands, however you must be prepared to travel further if required on an ad hoc basis.
