Our client, a thriving consultancy based in Derby, is looking for a Health and Safety Consultant to join our team, supporting SME clients, predominantly within the construction industry. Construction and CDM knowledge/experience is highly desirable. Starting salary is £45,000 - £50,000 depending on experience.
Key responsibilities of Health & Safety Consultant include:
- Complete construction site inspections and audits
- Ensure practical compliance with CDM 2015
- Review H&S documentation, including Construction Phase Plans (CPPs) and RAMS
- Help clients understand and meet their duties as Client / Principal Contractor / Contractor
- Provide practical advice on controlling common construction risks including working at height, lifting, excavations/temporary works, plant/traffic management, COSHH, electrical safety and public interface
- Conduct incident/near-miss investigations, corrective actions, learning, and RIDDOR guidance
- Produce concise, high-quality H&S documentation
The ideal candidate will have:
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience in construction environment with knowledge of CDM regulations (desirable)
- Strong IT skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Good problem solver
- Ability to manage own diary and work using own initiative
- Good attention to detail
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) is essential
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) desirable
- NEBOSH Construction (desirable)
- CSCS card (desirable)
Benefits of Health & Safety Consultant include:
- Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 depending on experience

- Working pattern: Office, client and site based (typically 2–3 days per week on client sites, with the remainder office based; travel required and flexible working where practical)
