Our client, a thriving Environmental Consultancy based in Derby are seeking an enthusiastic Geo-Environmental or Geotechnical Engineer with a geology or related background. The role will involve supporting and delivering site investigation and testing across a range of development projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning and delivery of ground investigations from inception to completion.
- Undertake site work including soil and groundwater sampling, logging, monitoring and supervision.
- Preparation of samples and scheduling of laboratory analysis.
- Prepare factual and interpretative reports.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, regulators, and other consultants.
- Support project delivery to programme, budget, and quality standards.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a ground investigation role within the UK (highly desirable, however strong candidates with the right attitude and determination to succeed with slightly less experience may be considered).
- Good understanding of UK guidance and legislation (e.g. LCRM, BS5930).
- Experience of site investigation techniques and soil/rock logging.
- Ability to produce clear, concise technical reports.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Full UK driving licence (essential for site work).
Desirable:
- Working toward Chartered status (e.g. CEnv, CGeol).
- Experience with ground gas and groundwater monitoring.
- Familiarity with risk assessment and remedial design.
- Experience of waste assessment and using HazWasteOnline.
