Three days worked. Four days off every single week. That’s the setup here. You get your hours done Friday to Sunday, then you’re off until the following week. It’s still a welding and fabrication role, just structured in a way that gives you more time away from work. Alongside that, you’re not walking into a stop-start environment. The work is consistent, the shop floor is well set up, and expectations are clear. Weld it right, keep to standard, and maintain output.

You’ll be based in a large, well-invested manufacturing facility in Rotherham, producing components across sectors including defence, rail and heavy engineering.

What the role looks like day to day:

You’ll be carrying out MIG welding and fabrication work across a range of materials, working from drawings and producing parts to required standards. You’ll be on the shop floor, part of a production team, maintaining consistency and quality across your shift.

What you will be doing:

  • MIG welding on carbon steel, armour steel and aluminium.
  • Welding a range of joint configurations in all positions.
  • Setting parameters in line with WPS requirements.
  • Working from engineering drawings.
  • Meeting production targets while maintaining quality.
  • Carrying out equipment and safety checks.
  • Ensuring correct marking and labelling of components.

What they are looking for:

  • Recent welding and fabrication experience.
  • Strong MIG welding ability.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
  • Understanding of quality standards and production requirements.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Good attention to detail and consistency.
  • Coded welding experience is beneficial but not essential.

This role suits someone who can work independently, maintain a consistent standard, and is comfortable working a condensed weekend pattern.

Why people move into this role:

The shift pattern is the main difference. You’re working full-time hours across three days and getting four days off every week. Alongside that, you’re joining a well-established operation with steady work, proper equipment and a clear way of working.

What you get:

  • £23.50 per hour (circa £42,200 per year based on 34.5 hours).
  • Overtime available.
  • Annual profit share bonus.
  • 33 days holiday including bank holidays.
  • Company pension.
  • Life assurance.
  • Healthcare plan.
  • Costco membership discount.
  • Monthly vending allowance.
  • Reduced gym membership.
  • Free on-site parking.
  • Ongoing training and development.
