If you are a CNC Machinist currently stuck on rotating shifts or spending more time dealing with problems than machining parts, this role offers something more straightforward. You choose days or nights, and you get on with the job.
You will be joining a large, well-established manufacturing site in Rotherham producing precision components for defence, rail and heavy engineering. The setup is organised, the machines are modern, and the expectation is clear. Set it right, run it properly and maintain the standard.
What the role looks like day to day:
You will be working on vertical CNC milling machines, setting, operating and adjusting as needed to keep production on track. This is hands-on machining. You are expected to understand your work, read drawings properly and take ownership of what you produce. It is not a button-pushing role.
What you will be doing:
- Setting and operating CNC milling machines
- Editing programmes where required
- Loading materials and setting tooling correctly
- Monitoring machine performance and making adjustments
- Inspecting parts to ensure they meet tolerances
- Using measuring equipment to check accuracy
- Troubleshooting issues during production
- Keeping machines clean, safe and running efficiently
What they are looking for:
- Experience as a CNC Machinist, Setter or Operator within milling
- Experience working with Fanuc controls
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Confident using measuring equipment
- A practical, problem-solving mindset
- Strong attention to detail
This role suits someone who takes pride in their work and prefers a steady, well-run environment. If you are looking for something more structured with fewer disruptions, it will suit. If you prefer light-touch or repetitive work, it will not.
Why people move into this role:
The main reason is shift choice and stability. You are not tied into rotation, and you are not walking into a disorganised shop floor. This is a well-established operation with consistent workload, clear processes and a team that understands machining. You are there to do the job properly, not firefight.
What you get:
- £14.30 to £22.00 per hour depending on experience
- Choice of permanent days or permanent nights
- Overtime available
- 33 days holiday including bank holidays
- Company pension and life assurance
- Healthcare scheme
- Reduced gym membership
- Monthly incentives and referral bonuses
- Ongoing training and development
- Free secure on-site parking
