Contract: Full-time, permanent
Hours: Monday to Thursday rotating shifts. Days 6:00am to 4:00pm, Nights 8:00pm to 6:00am 4 days a week. Every Friday off. A long weekend built into every single week.
This role offers a consistent Monday to Thursday pattern, full-time hours, and a routine that gives you your time back. You will be involved throughout the fabrication process, helping maintain standards as work moves through production rather than checking it after the fact. This gives you more control over quality and a more hands-on role in the process.
The work is consistent, expectations are clear, and you are there to maintain standards rather than firefight problems. You will be working in a large, well-established manufacturing facility in Rotherham, supporting fabrication across sectors including defence, rail and heavy engineering. This suits someone who wants a stable role, clear expectations and the ability to take ownership of quality.
What the role looks like day to day:
- You will be on the shop floor and in the documentation, checking weld quality, reviewing procedures and supporting fabrication teams to keep everything to standard.
What you will be doing:
- Monitoring QA and QC activities across fabrication
- Reviewing WPS, PQR and WPQ documentation
- Carrying out visual weld inspections and dimensional checks
- Reviewing and endorsing NDT reports
- Supporting welding teams with technical advice
- Prescribing and monitoring weld repairs
- Verifying correct use of NDT methods
- Completing inspection records and documentation
- Reviewing inspection and test plans and final fabrication packs
What they are looking for:
- PCN Welding Inspector Level 2 or equivalent is essential
- PCN Level 2 MPI/DPI is preferred
- Experience in welding inspection within fabrication
- Understanding of QA and QC processes
- Comfortable working on the shop floor and with documentation
- Good communication skills and attention to detail
- IT literate including Microsoft Office
- Comfortable taking responsibility for quality and working without constant supervision
