Location: Rotherham
Salary: £17.51 per hour (circa £31,412.94 per annum based on 34.5 hours)
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Hours: Friday to Sunday, 6:00am to 6:00pm
This role doesn’t follow the typical five-day work week. You work Friday to Sunday, then you’re off for four full days before starting again. If you’re used to a full working week, this is just a different way of structuring it. Same type of work, just with more time away from it.
In most fabrication environments, inspection only happens at the end of the process. By that point, issues are harder to resolve and quality can suffer, leaving inspectors picking up problems rather than preventing them. This role is different. You will be involved throughout the fabrication process, helping maintain standards as work moves through production rather than checking it after the fact. The work is consistent, expectations are clear, and you’re there to maintain standards rather than firefight problems.
You will be working in a large, well-established manufacturing facility in Rotherham, supporting fabrication across sectors including defence, rail and heavy engineering.
What the role looks like day to day:
- You will be on the shop floor and in the documentation, checking weld quality, reviewing procedures and supporting fabrication teams to keep standards.
