Verus Recruitment Partners are proud to be supporting a leading aerospace manufacturer in Sheffield in their search for a Production Manager. This is a critical leadership role within the site, offering the opportunity to lead base business operations, develop high-performing teams, and drive continuous improvement within a complex and highly regulated aerospace environment.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Operations, the Production Manager will lead and manage the operational management team and associated production employees to deliver best-in-class performance across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and People (SQDCP). The role is instrumental in sustaining a safe, structured, and engaging working environment, driving Lean principles, improving productivity, and supporting the long-term operational strategy of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of operational managers, direct reports, and shared resources to ensure safe and effective delivery of annual operational objectives
- Collaborate closely with the Site Leadership Team to support site-wide performance and strategic initiatives
- Drive continuous improvement and Lean Six Sigma initiatives to enhance productivity, technical capability, and operational excellence
- Develop and implement new and improved operational practices across base business activities
- Own and deliver class-leading performance against operational KPIs within the SQDCP framework
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and waste minimisation, embedding Lean ways of working
- Lead the understanding, justification, and management of CAPEX projects to support growth, risk mitigation, new products, and future technologies
- Drive quality performance within your area of responsibility, supporting the site’s zero defects strategy
- Ensure effective root-cause analysis, corrective action implementation, and rework reduction initiatives
- Build and sustain a high-performance culture through regular 1:1s, PDRs, coaching, and capability development
- Identify operational risks early and implement preventative measures
- Influence and engage stakeholders across functions, overcoming resistance to change and fostering a collaborative, people-centric culture
- Ensure strict compliance with Health & Safety, quality standards, and aerospace regulatory requirements
What We’re Looking For
- Proven management experience within a complex, fast-paced, and highly regulated manufacturing environment (aerospace or similar)
- A management qualification
- Lean Six Sigma qualification (or equivalent) – essential
- Strong leadership capability with a proven track record of building and sustaining high-performing teams
- Strong analytical skills, capable of interpreting production data and implementing efficiency improvements
- Confident, positive, and energetic decision-maker with the ability to influence and drive change
- Expertise in Lean manufacturing tools, including 5S, Six Sigma, and CI methodologies
- Highly organised with excellent planning and prioritisation skills
