Job Title: Fire Systems Engineer
Location: Stocksbridge (Sheffield)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8 am – 4 pm
Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 (depending on experience)

They are currently seeking a Fire Systems Engineer to take a key role in managing the maintenance, compliance, and operation of fire detection, alarm, and suppression systems across their sites. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional to drive fire safety standards and contribute to a safer working environment.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of fire safety policies and strategies, ensuring compliance with the Business Code of Practice, relevant legislation, and British and European Standards.
  • Identify and implement compliance improvements using industry best practices and cost-effective solutions to achieve both short- and long-term objectives.
  • Oversee the maintenance and operation of fire detection and suppression systems, ensuring all systems meet required safety standards.
  • Manage and coordinate contractors to service and maintain fire systems across multiple sites.
  • Provide expert advice on system condition, suitability, and upgrades, helping to plan for future obsolescence and system improvements.
  • Oversee contracts for the supply, installation, and maintenance of fire safety equipment.
  • Support decision-making and problem-solving by providing specialist advice on fire system maintenance and project delivery.

What We’re Looking For: To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • Strong knowledge of fire detection and suppression systems, fire safety legislation, and compliance requirements.
  • Relevant qualifications in fire safety and/or electrical disciplines.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the operation and maintenance of fire systems and associated equipment.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage contractors and motivate a diverse team.
  • A proactive and driven approach, with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to gather, organize, and interpret data for logic-based problem-solving.
  • Strong communication skills—clear, concise, and effective both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and project management.
  • A team-oriented mindset, with a flexible approach to work and the ability to meet deadlines.
