The Role

A Front Office technology group is looking for a strong Python Engineer to help build out a core platform used across trading workflows and risk decision-making.

This is a hands-on engineering role sitting close to the desk, not a detached IT build.

You will be working with trading, structuring, quantitative and technology teams to improve the tooling, libraries and platform components that support product creation, analytics and Front Office execution.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Build and improve Python-based tools, libraries and frameworks used by Front Office and quant users.
  • Help shape platform architecture, integration patterns and the way the platform connects into wider infrastructure and user workflows.
  • Work directly with trading, structuring, quant and technology stakeholders to turn commercial requirements into reliable software.
  • Improve performance, scalability and reliability across business-critical platform components.
  • Own delivery from design through release, with a strong focus on code quality, documentation and maintainability.
  • Support users across Front Office, quant and technology teams, making sure the platform works in practice, not just in theory.

What You Bring

  • Strong Python engineering ability, with a deep understanding of the language and its core libraries.
  • A proper software engineering mindset: clean design, testing, source control, CI/CD and production-quality delivery.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals and the judgement to make sensible architectural choices.
  • Confidence working with analytical users, Front Office stakeholders and other engineers.
  • The ability to take ownership of complex technical work and move it through to delivery.
  • Exposure to trading technology, quant platforms or Front Office analytics would be useful, but the core requirement is strong engineering in a markets-facing environment.

The Package

London-based role with very competitive investment banking compensation, including £#removed#k base salary, discretionary bonus and benefits. They also have a hybrid work set up.

The working environment is collaborative, technical and close to the business.

The right person will get meaningful ownership of platform work that is directly used by revenue-generating teams.
