The Role

A global investment bank is investing heavily in the technology that underpins one of its core trading businesses and is looking for a C++ Developer to join a front office engineering team responsible for pricing, risk and trade capture capabilities.

This is not a back-office development role.

The platform sits close to the trading desk and is used daily by revenue-generating users, giving engineers direct exposure to pricing models, market data, trading workflows and commercial decision-making.

The team owns a business-critical pricing infrastructure and is continuing to scale both its functionality and capacity as trading volumes and product complexity increase.

You’ll work directly with traders, quants and other front office stakeholders to deliver new capabilities, improve system performance and help shape the evolution of a proprietary trading platform.

It is a role that offers genuine ownership, technical challenge and the opportunity to build deep knowledge of financial markets while remaining hands-on in C++.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Designing and developing enhancements to a business-critical pricing and trade management platform.
  • Building scalable and performant solutions that support a growing trading business.
  • Working directly with traders and quantitative teams to understand requirements and deliver technology that has immediate commercial impact.
  • Improving system reliability, performance and throughput across pricing and risk workflows.
  • Translating complex business problems into robust, maintainable software solutions.
  • Contributing to the wider architectural direction of a front office technology stack.
  • Developing a deeper understanding of derivative products, pricing methodologies and trading processes.
  • Taking ownership of projects from requirements gathering through to production delivery.

What You Bring

  • Previous exposure to trading, capital markets or financial technology environments.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Interest in working closely with front office users and understanding the commercial drivers behind technology decisions.
  • Experience building high-performance, low-latency or distributed systems.
  • Python development skills would be beneficial.
  • Exposure to derivatives, pricing systems, risk platforms or electronic trading environments would be advantageous.
  • A pragmatic approach to software engineering with a focus on delivering real business value.

The Package

£140-160k base plus annual performance bonus + benefits | Hybrid working arrangement available.

Strong opportunity to work on highly visible front office technology with direct interaction across trading and quantitative teams.

Clear scope for both technical and business development within a growing area of the bank.
