About the role
As a Shipping Coordinator you will be the key link between shipping lines, port authorities and clients, ensuring port operations run efficiently. You will support vessel scheduling, documentation and compliance, contributing to smooth daily operations.
Working hours
Monday to Friday 9am–5pm in the Ipswich office, with an out‑of‑hours on‑call rota (home‑based) covering evenings, weekends and bank holidays (paid overtime). You must be comfortable attending port‑side when required.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Coordinate vessel arrivals and departures, liaising with captains, port authorities and clients
- Prepare and manage documentation, supporting compliance with port regulations and shipping requirements
- Monitor vessel schedules, inform clients of changes and assist in resolving operational challenges
- Work closely with customs, freight forwarders and other stakeholders to support smooth port operations
- Follow company procedures and participate in the out‑of‑hours rota, including boarding duties during evenings, weekends and bank holidays
About you
- Proactive team player with strong communication skills and a genuine interest in shipping or logistics
- Organised, able to handle changing situations, proficient in IT (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Customer‑focused approach building positive relationships with clients
- Willing to support port operations as needed, valid UK driving licence, access to own vehicle, flexibility to travel and work outside standard office hours
