Role Overview
We are seeking a driven and results-oriented Senior Transaction Monitoring Associate to tackle financial crime and fraud prevention in global payment systems, with a specific focus B2B in emerging markets. This is your chance to play a leading role in our Transaction Monitoring team, moving beyond purely “review” type activity to become a key contributor to how we manage our client’s risk and their experience. You will help drive innovation, lead high risk investigations and ensure Verto has the right tools to detect money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud and market abuse. What You’ll Be Doing
- Architecting the Roadmap: Supporting the design, build, and enhancement of the Transaction Monitoring (incl. Fraud) capability, ensuring delivery aligns with Verto’s aggressive growth trajectory.
- Mastering the Tools: Acting as a key calibrator of our advanced TM and fraud tools. Your technical proficiency will reduce false positives while ensuring no major incidents slip through.
- Elite Investigations: Leading complex, high-stakes payment investigations and serving as the primary liaison with law enforcement and external partners to ensure recovery and accountability.
- Deputy Team Lead: Deputise as the technical mentor and lead, leveling up your teammates' skills and serving as the 'North Star' for complex decision-making across the global monitoring team.
- Acting as Risk Owner: Serving as the dedicated Risk Owner for our scaling products (incl. Cards and Pay-By-Link), optimising security while ensuring seamless client adoption.
- Partnering with Product: Collaborating directly with the Product team to design and embed "security-by-design" features, making risk management a core function of our platform.
- Driving Intelligence: Constantly monitoring industry best practices and emerging trends to keep Verto two steps ahead of bad actors.
- Owning Card Risk: Taking ownership of the chargeback management lifecycle, analysing trends, defending submissions, and managing Visa/Mastercard alerts.
What You Need
- 4 - 6 years within a Transaction Monitoring function, with specific experience of managing junior team members.
- Experience gained in a high-growth FinTech or payments environment is preferred.
- A proven track record of building or enhancing a Transaction Monitoring function (not just operating within one).
- Strong knowledge of fraud risk management and an understanding of managing a chargeback process.
- An investigative mindset with experience liaising with law enforcement or external partners.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyse large datasets to identify patterns and trends.
- A collaborative spirit with the ability to influence non-technical partners (Sales, Product) on complex risk issues.
- Some data analytics experience is preferred.
- A growth mindset and desire to work independently to deliver results fast.
