Maintenance Technician / Mechanical Maintenance Engineer / Mechanical Engineer required to join a leading industrial manufacturing company responsible for maintaining complex mechanical equipment and production systems based near Sheffield.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the mechanical repair, service and maintenance of a range of industrial equipment on-site, including pumps, motors, gearboxes and associated mechanical systems, ensuring reliable operation and minimal downtime.

The ideal candidate will have a background in industrial mechanical maintenance, with experience working on production equipment and carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance activities within a manufacturing environment.

Role:

  • Carry out mechanical repair, servicing and maintenance of industrial equipment including pumps, motors, gearboxes and associated production machinery.
  • Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities in line with maintenance schedules.
  • Respond to breakdown situations as priority, diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs to minimise downtime.
  • Support engineering projects and installation work, including equipment modifications, machinery installation, welding, machining and general mechanical fitting.
  • Work closely with the engineering and maintenance teams to ensure equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Operate within a two-shift system (12-hour shifts Monday to Friday) and participate in call-out cover when required.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in industrial or manufacturing maintenance environments.
  • Strong mechanical maintenance background, ideally working with pumps, motors, gearboxes or similar equipment.
  • Experience carrying out planned preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs.
  • Additional skills such as welding, machining, pipe fitting or general mechanical assembly would be advantageous.
  • NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance Engineering or similar discipline preferred.
  • Basic electrical awareness is beneficial but not essential as the role is primarily mechanical.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shift patterns and participate in occasional call-out duties.
  • Commutable to Sheffield.
