A leading global engineering manufacturer is seeking a Business Development Manager / Sales Manager / Sales Engineer to focus on generating new business opportunities, particularly in selling automation and pneumatic products & solutions to companies outside of their existing sectors, such as automotive, food and packaging, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, and machine tools. Full product training will be provided.
The successful candidate will ideally have not sold into the company’s existing industries. We are looking for someone to open up doors and sell company products into new industries.
Package:
- Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 DOE

Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in untapped industries, targeting companies that are not familiar with the company’s products, particularly in automation and pneumatics.
- Create new relationships, build trust, and drive growth by introducing the company’s products into industries outside of its current market.
- Engage with potential clients to qualify new pneumatic and automation sales leads.
- Sell a variety of pneumatic products and solutions, including pneumatic components, actuators, and automation systems.
- Create and maintain a 5-year sales plan, validate market forecasts, and review performance regularly.
- Submit timely activity and marketing reports, maintaining accurate records in the CRM system.
- Identify and evaluate relevant pneumatic and automation exhibitions, events, and journals to attend, reporting on findings and making budget recommendations to sales management.
- Liaise with various engineering departments.
- Fully remote role covering the UK with regular travel to the office near Bedford.
Requirements:
- Experience in business development, ideally with a proven track record of opening new markets excluding the company’s existing industries.
- A general understanding of automation, pneumatics, or similar electromechanical systems.
- Experience in identifying new market opportunities, developing strategies to engage new customers, and driving business growth.
- Experience selling into special-purpose machinery or a broad range of industries outside the traditional sectors, with a focus on business development rather than technical sales.
- Ability to engage with clients, identify their needs, and articulate the company’s value proposition in a non-technical manner.
- Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel nationwide.
- Fully remote covering UK-wide, with 4 days a week of travel across various regions and occasional overnight stays.
