A Mechanical Project Manager is required to lead the delivery of complex mechanical packages across hyperscale data centre projects.

This role offers the opportunity to manage critical mechanical systems throughout the full project lifecycle, from design development and installation through testing, commissioning and final handover.

The successful Mechanical Project Manager will oversee the delivery of mission-critical mechanical infrastructure, working closely with design teams, consultants, clients, subcontractors and vendors to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with technical requirements.

The Mechanical Project Manager Role

  • Manage the full lifecycle delivery of mechanical packages from design development through installation, testing, commissioning and handover.
  • Oversee critical mechanical systems including HVAC, CRAH/CRAC units, chillers, cooling towers, chilled water systems, DX cooling systems, pumps, pipework and mechanical plant rooms.
  • Coordinate with design teams, consultants, clients, subcontractors and vendors to ensure mechanical works meet programme, specifications and project requirements.
  • Manage mechanical subcontractors, reviewing construction methodologies, monitoring progress, resolving technical issues and maintaining quality standards.
  • Lead MEP coordination activities, including drawing reviews, BIM coordination, clash reviews, RFIs and technical submissions.
  • Support testing, commissioning and Integrated Systems Testing (IST), ensuring systems are operational before client handover.
  • Manage project documentation including RAMS, ITPs, method statements, technical submissions, O&M manuals and as-built documentation.
  • Monitor project costs, procurement, materials, subcontractor performance and commercial risks.

Mechanical Project Manager Requirements

  • Experience delivering mechanical packages within hyperscale data centre projects.
  • Strong mechanical engineering background with experience across HVAC and cooling systems.
  • Experience coordinating MEP activities within complex construction environments.
  • Knowledge of commissioning processes and mechanical systems handover.
  • Experience working within live or mission-critical environments.
  • Ability to manage Tier 1 contractors and specialist subcontractors.
  • Strong understanding of data hall infrastructure and operational requirements.
