Design Engineer / Product Engineer / Application Engineer required to join a world leading manufacturer in Wellingborough. The Design Engineer / Product Engineer / Application Engineer will be responsible for the design and process of bespoke enquiries taking it from enquiry stage to production. You'll be taking standard products and using your technical and design expertise to provide bespoke solutions.
This position would suit a Design Engineer, Product Engineer, Application Engineer, Project Design Engineer, Technical Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Project Engineer or similar at all levels of industrial design experience. You'll be involved in liaising with customers & suppliers, technically specifying designs and using technical expertise to develop bespoke solutions whilst working to approvals and statutory bodies.
You'll be Degree, HND or HNC qualified in mechanical engineering with 3D CAD experience. Solidworks would be beneficial, but other 3D CAD such as Inventor, Catia, SolidEdge, Pro Engineer or similar would be of interest.
Package
- £35,000 - £45,000 depending on experience
- 24 days holiday plus bank holidays

Role
- Design, engineering, test requirements and documentation of special enquiries / bespoke products and equipment
- Working on international engineering projects that require effective communication across multiple departments to ensure quotations are successfully risk managed and delivery of customer orders meets agreed specification
- Processing customer enquiries for non-pricelist items for mechanical, electrical, documentation and testing requirements
- Liaise with customers and suppliers for price and delivery of components
- Review quotation provided with customer order and ensure technical detail aligns
- Using 3D CAD - Solidworks
- Establish all project requirements
- Co-ordinate documentation and technical specification of special requirements
- Collate & generate drawings and documentation to deliver the project
- Release projects to Project Engineers
- Support sales team with technical clarifications of projects including change requests
- Geometric tolerancing (GD&T)
- Read and interpret complex documentation and engineering drawings
- Assist in obtaining approvals and permissions required from any of the statutory authorities
Requirements
- Experience as a Design Engineer, Product Engineer, Application Engineer, Project Design Engineer, Technical Engineer, Project Engineer or similar
- 3D CAD experience, any 3D CAD package will be considered Solidworks, but Inventor, Pro Engineer, SolidEdge or Catia would be of interest
- Mechanical engineering qualification - HNC, HND or Degree
- Exposure to engineering design, application or project engineering
- Ability to read and interpret complex documentation and engineering drawings
Office based in Wellingborough. Hours: 08.00 - 17.15 Monday to Thursday and 08.00 - 13.00 Friday.
