A Design Engineer is required to join a Global manufacturer based in Runcorn. The Design Engineer will ideally have some industry experience with a Degree in mechanical engineering or similar.

The Design Engineer will have a mechanical background, with some experience within a design for manufacture or engineering environment. Knowledge of Creo / Pro-E would be beneficial; however, experience using Solidworks, SolidEdge, Autodesk Inventor or similar will be of interest.

Package: Up to £35,000 depending on experience, 23 days holiday plus bank holidays, pension scheme, private healthcare.

Role:

  • Develop new and prototype designs as well as existing designs.
  • Work closely with engineers, customers, and suppliers from concept through to production.
  • Perform engineering calculations.
  • Follow program from prototype build through launch and eventually apply product knowledge to new product development/design.
  • Use engineering principles, tools, and software to overcome design and test issues.
  • Work with customers to understand their requirements and application - design engineering solutions to meet customer requirements.
  • Design engineering products used in hydraulic applications.
  • Create 3D models in Creo / Pro-E.
  • React to customer issues and provide ongoing design modifications and support.
  • Create part drawings with correct dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Select correct materials, heat treatment, and assembly processes needed.
  • Liaise with various engineering departments.
  • Develop testing for products.

Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 08:30-16:45 with 30 minutes flexi time either side, Friday 08:30-15:30 with 1 hour flexi time either side.

Requirements:

  • Industry experience post Degree is preferred - exposure as a Design Engineer, Draughtsman, Project Engineer or similar would be beneficial.
  • Must be Degree qualified (BEng, BSc, MEng or MSc) in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, manufacturing engineering, aerospace engineering or similar.
  • 3D CAD experience is essential - knowledge of Creo / Pro-E would be beneficial; however, Solidworks, SolidEdge, Autodesk Inventor or similar will be considered.
  • Must be commutable to Runcorn.
