Repair Engineer / Service Engineer / Maintenance Engineer required to perform mechanical and electrical repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting at a global, leading Rotating Equipment manufacturer and solutions provider based in Houston. The role involves leading repair activities of engineered rotating machinery, including inspections, repair dispositions, execution of repairs, development of work instructions, and engagement with project management, suppliers, and customer personnel to ensure mechanical integrity and adherence to timelines.

The position requires close collaboration with operations, engineering, and project teams to maintain equipment reliability, optimize repair processes, and drive continuous improvement.

Package

Circa $85,000 to $100,000 base salary, PTO, 401K.

Responsibilities
  • Lead repair activities of rotating machinery, including centrifugal compressors, axial compressors, helical screw compressors, integrally geared compressors, steam turbines, power turbines, hot gas expanders, vacuum pumps, blowers, and associated actuators and gearboxes.
  • Develop project-specific work scopes, detailed work instructions, and inspection forms for compressors, turbines, pumps, blowers, and auxiliary components.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and promote safety excellence in the repair of all rotating machinery.
  • Review inspection reports, dimensional checks, metallurgical tests, and NDT results for compressors, turbines, and pumps, generating detailed reports for customer review.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to generate manufacturing and repair drawings using CAD tools for compressors, turbines, pumps, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Provide technical guidance and serve as a point of contact for all assigned repair projects, including mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Evaluate and implement evolving repair techniques and technologies to improve durability, efficiency, and mean time between repairs for rotating equipment.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and safety across all repair activities.
  • Support the onboarding and evaluation of new hires and mentor team members on centrifugal compressors, integrally geared compressors, and turbine repair practices.
  • Interface with other departments, suppliers, and customers to ensure timely project delivery of all rotating equipment repairs.
Requirements
  • 2–3 years of direct experience with turbomachinery overhaul, installation, and maintenance, including compressors, turbines, pumps, blowers, vacuum pumps, and field or shop involvement.
  • Proficiency with mechanical engineering analysis tools and software such as SolidWorks, Ansys Workbench, and Polyworks Inspector.
  • Mechanical knowledge of turbomachinery, including centrifugal compressors, axial compressors, helical screw compressors, integrally geared compressors, steam turbines, power turbines, and blowers.
  • Installation, assembly, disassembly, and troubleshooting experience with rotating equipment, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic actuators.
  • Familiarity with inspection and quality control practices, industrial repair standards, and API-687 preferred.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering desired.
