Summary: We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Field Service Technician to provide technical support for the commissioning, troubleshooting, and warranty work on large natural gas reciprocating engine-driven power generation systems. This role is focused on both mechanical and electrical systems and requires in-depth knowledge of power generation equipment, ensuring that all equipment operates efficiently from factory testing through to successful startup at client sites. The ideal candidate will work on a range of generator packages, including those from leading manufacturers, ensuring that all equipment is operating efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and advanced maintenance on electric generators, switchgear, electronic controls, diesel and gas engines, including LPG
  • Provide technical support during commissioning, startup, and synchronization of power generation systems at client sites
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical and mechanical issues to ensure system reliability and performance
  • Conduct load bank tests, fluid changes, and system diagnostics on various generator sets
  • Support balance-of-plant (BOP) systems, including transformers, fuel systems, and associated equipment
  • Collaborate with OEMs, contractors, and field teams to resolve technical issues and optimize system performance
  • Lead and mentor junior technicians, providing guidance and support on complex technical issues
  • Submit detailed field service reports, expense reports, and other necessary paperwork on a daily basis
  • Support factory acceptance testing (FAT) and pre-dispatch commissioning activities
  • Work on large gas engine platforms (e.g., CAT, Waukesha, Jenbacher)
  • Operate company service vehicle and applicable equipment, including lift trucks

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Field Service Technician, Power Generation Technician, Gas Engine Technician, Senior Power Systems Technician, Senior Service Engineer, Senior Mechanical Technician, Senior Generator Technician, or similar roles.
  • Strong expertise in troubleshooting and commissioning generator sets, including extensive knowledge of switchgear systems
  • Proven experience with gas engines, including those from Caterpillar, Cummins, MTU, and Waukesha or similar
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, P&IDs, electrical schematics, and control systems
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability and willingness to travel long distances to client sites
