This is an exceptional opportunity for a Commercial Director to join the leadership team delivering Europe’s biggest data centre scheme in Sines, Portugal. This role is fully site-based, 5 days per week (no rotation). This is a flagship, technically complex programme of work that demands world-class commercial oversight and strategic guidance.
The Role
- Lead all commercial, cost and procurement functions for this flagship project - ensuring financial control, contractual compliance and value delivery across the full lifecycle.
- Working closely with project directors, clients and contractors, you’ll play a critical role in keeping the programme on time, on budget and aligned with the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead commercial and cost management on a large-scale data centre project
- Develop and implement commercial and procurement strategies
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, benchmarking and financial reporting
- Manage tendering, contract negotiations and contract compliance
- Identify and mitigate commercial risks
- Build strong client and contractor relationships
- Lead and develop commercial teams
- Ensure accurate invoicing, payments and financial governance
About You
- Strong commercial and cost management experience in data centre construction
- Skilled across both pre- and post-contract stages
- Excellent negotiation, communication and financial management ability
- Highly organised, adaptable and collaborative
- Proficient in MS Office
- Fluent English
- Comfortable being site-based in Sines, 5 days a week
Qualifications
- Professional membership (RICS, CIOB, CICES, CIPS) desirable
- Degree in Engineering, Architecture or Quantity Surveying
