To join a manufacturer based in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire. The Buyer/Procurement Specialist/Manufacturing Buyer will be responsible for managing the end‑to‑end procurement of materials and engineered components required to support manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will have proven experience in buying/purchasing within a manufacturing/engineering environment.
Package: £40,000, 24 days plus bank holidays, Pension – 5%
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the overall strategy for purchasing, supplier management and supply chain development
- Manage the end‑to‑end procurement of materials and engineered components required to support manufacturing operations
- Play a key role in the continuous improvement of our materials and purchasing processes
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost-effectiveness, and reliability
- Negotiate contracts and agreements
- Monitor vendor performance issues and corrective action management
- Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers
- Prepare daily and monthly procurement reports
- Inventory control
- Use ERP system
- Analyse pricing trends and seek cost‑effective solutions
- Liaise with various engineering departments
- Report to the Purchasing Manager
- Work Monday to Thursday: 07:00 – 16:15 (½ hour lunch break) & Friday: 07:00 – 12:00
Requirements:
- Previous experience in buying/purchasing within an engineering/manufacturing business; previously been a Buyer/Procurement Specialist/Manufacturing Buyer or similar
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems such as INFOR ERPLN/SAP or similar inventory management software
- CIPS qualified - level 4 upwards or Degree in Supply Chain/Purchasing
- Commutable to Wellingborough, Northamptonshire
