Metrology Technician / 3D Measurement Technician / Reverse Engineering Technician
Metrology Technician required to join a leading turbomachinery service company based in Pearland, TX.
The Metrology Technician will operate state-of-the-art 3D portable metrology tools to inspect, reverse engineer, and analyze critical rotating equipment components such as impellers, shafts, housings, and full rotor assemblies. You\’ll work with laser trackers, portable CMM arms, scanners, and software like Polyworks or Spatial Analyzer to provide precision inspection and dimensional data for high-spec repair and manufacturing projects.
This is a technical, detail-driven role requiring a strong grasp of inspection principles, CAD modeling, and an understanding of mechanical fit and function. The role includes both in-house and field-based inspection work (up to 50% travel) for internal teams and external customers.

Metrology Technician
Role
-
Reverse engineer turbomachinery components and assemblies (e.g., compressors, pumps, rotors, couplings) using 3D metrology tools and traditional inspection instruments

Perform inspections using portable CMM arms, laser trackers, XRF analyzers, hardness testers, and micrometers

Create detailed inspection reports and CAD-ready outputs from scan data

Analyze parts using Form-Fit-Function principles and GD&T practices

Support quality control for machining, MRO, and assembly processes in the shop or at customer sites

Document inspection records and upload into digital systems and network folders

Assist with maintenance and calibration tracking of metrology equipment

Requirements

Associate’s degree (2-year) in engineering, drafting, machining, or related technical field preferred

Experience with inspection software such as Polyworks, Spatial Analyzer, Inspire, or equivalent
